What are the differences between stretched and framed canvas?

Stretched, Ready to Hang Canvas

  • Arrives ready to hang on the wall, with wire preinstalled. The canvas 'wraps' around timber stretcher bars 1.5in thick.
  • The edges of the artwork wrap around the frame for a clean, modern finish.
  • Stretched canvases give the look and feel of a clean, modern finish and gallery feel.

Professionally Framed Canvas

  • Choose your desired floating frame, and we'll do the rest.
  • Your artwork will arrive professionally framed, and ready to hang on the wall.
  • A floating frame creates a “floating” effect on the art that's inside, adding a dimensional effect with visual impact.

What materials do you use and how long will it last?

The materials we use are guaranteed to last over 100 years. As a result, we can offer a lifetime guarantee for our canvases.

The printing process is Giclee with Pigment Ink on a Premium Fine Art Matte Canvas 410g/m2.

How do I clean the canvas?

The canvases are quite durable once given our protective coating and should resist most scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc.
You can dust canvases with a soft, dry cloth. If your canvas needs deeper cleaning you may try a damp cloth but we cannot guarantee or recommend this.
Should the canvas get nicked and lose ink in a certain area, it can be touched up with waterproof felt-tip markers or touch-up paint.

What is the best condition for displaying my prints?

Keeping the prints in the right environment will maximize their life.

  • Direct sunlight will cause the colors to fade prematurely.
  • Pollutants such as smoke will also negatively impact the lifespan of the media.
  • Excess humidity may cause molding. Extreme low humidity will cause the wood stretcher frame to shrink which may cause the stretch to be less tight and result in sagging. This effect is temporary and will go away once it returns to a normal humidity range.
  • The lighting conditions also affect how the prints will be viewed. Our monitors and printers are calibrated to ambient light conditions of D50 (5000K daylight). Viewing under different light conditions may affect how the colors are perceived by your eyes.
